And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17 (New Living Translation)
Often I am not sure believers are aware that what we do, what we say, is seen as Christ’s words and actions to some. I know I am not cognizant of that at all times, especially when in relation to other believers.
Often we use Christ as our platform for condemnation, condescension and criticism. Sometimes we use it to justify our judgement of others. We wave our Christian banner as a means of feeling superior. But does any of that truly reflect the words and deeds of Christ?
Constantly in Scripture we are commanded to love God and love others. That the greatest of these is love. So how would your day or my day look if it the words and actions were done out of love, not from a place of superiority or judgement? How would people see Christ in word and truth if we acted out of love for others, a love Christ had and modeled in every circumstance, today?
So today, what if we as believers were aware of our words and actions in every interaction, and the weight it carries to those who do know Christ, and those who do not? How would that change not only our day but others? Let’s use Christ as our filter today for all things. I am starting with me. I choose to love instead of judge.
