Lego(s) to Haiti

This morning we’re taking a pause from singleness, faith, and growth because I have something I want to share with you that’s very close to my heart.

Four years ago next week an earthquake rocked Haiti and sending that nation into a state of devastation, when it was already teetering on the edge.  Since that time my heart has been gripped by that nation and the people. Eighteen months after the earthquake I had the privilege to go with a group down to an orphanage to work for a week. My life hasn’t quite been the same since, for good reason. I have a consistent and persistent call on my heart to return to Haiti, and this year I pray that God provides that opportunity.

I wanted to share this opportunity that is coming up very rapidly that YOU can be a part of! My friends over at WAY-FM Nashville are headed to Haiti with Compassion International in just a few short weeks. They’ve asked everyone to get involved and show love for the kids of Haiti through Legos. Yep, Legos. Resources are still scarce in Haiti and often the simplest toys are played with. Batteries are not a common commodity and therefore hard to obtain, and what better toy to take than one that is small, easy to understand, and supports the creation and imagination of children.

So here’s the deal:

I would love to leave a bunch of Legos at the Compassion projects we visit for all the kids to play with. Here is where you come in. We know Legos are crazy expensive, but If your child has some Legos, ask if they would like to donate a handful and mail them to us. We will will create Lego kits from all the pieces we get in. If you don’t have kids and want to buy a Lego set and send it to us, that is absolutely fine too.

We only have a few days to get them in the mail. We need to receive them by Thursday, January 16, 2014.

Send them to:

The Wally Show
1095 W McEwen Drive
Franklin, TN  37067

My nephews are getting in on this as they grab some and mail it out…so even if you don’t have kids, go grab a pack of Legos at the store and send them Wally’s way. Let’s show some Lego love to Haiti and Compassion International this next week!

Take a picture with your Legos you send and post it in the comments!
