A couple of years ago I stumbled upon this podcast from a church in Birmingham. I began to really enjoy the teaching from the pastor there, as I felt he was truly open to what God was speaking through him. I’d download their weekly services and listen repeatedly while I worked out. It helped that he preached for at least an hour. He’s a very missions-minded pastor who spoke of the call on the church to go and do, instead of sit and wait. He really challenged me and spoke to a heart that cries for missions-whether local, regional, or international.
He eventually published a book and many of you may know it as it’s a well-worn copy that I have re-read about 5 times in the last three years. David Platt wrote Radical based on God’s call for our lives as Christians. It’s a bold callout to us as believers. I was fortunate to attend Secret Church a couple of years ago and I cannot tell you how powerful and encouraging to learn and grow through that platform it was for me. As the years have passed, I still enjoy podcasts from The Church at Brook Hills on occasion, but giving in to busyness of life has gotten me away from digging into David’s teaching.
The last several weeks I have been praying and pondering on where I would take this blog as I feel God’s push on my heart about a particular area. As you can probably tell it’s focusing in on Single Life, especially from a Christian’s lens. In researching and seeking out resources, I came across a two-part podcast from David Platt last year on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood. This particular teaching shook up my thoughts in some areas of what it means to be a man and a woman. Today I wanted to just share the link to the two podcasts and encourage you to take time to listen and internalize.
